NOLAbeings is a street portrait project I started in February 2014 to document the lives and stories of people around New Orleans. Each post shares a photo and a quote from someone I approached randomly on the street and spent some time talking with (sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes an hour).
In the time I've been doing the project, I've spoken with hundreds of folks across the city and learned a ton about approaching strangers, asking good questions, and listening deeply. As I've grown, so has the project, which now has over 40,000 regular followers on social media and has received acclaim from TIME, Wired, New Orleans Magazine, and TEDx among other media.
Below are a few project samples. You can hover your cursor over the bottom of the image to read the quote.
